A LIFE IMMERSED IN MUSIC AND FILM
Hailing from Beijing, based in Los Angeles, Muye Yu ( 于沐晔 ) is a skilled and innovative pianist and composer specializing in film music, music for media, theater music and concert music.
With a robust academic background, Muye’s journey includes undergraduate studies at Beijing Film Academy, a master’s degree from USC’s screen scoring program, and currently persuing a PhD at UCLA’s composition program.
Hong Kong composer William Wu ( 胡伟立)is the mentor and inspiration for Muye to start her journey on the road of film music. After her graduation from USC, she worked for distinguished Hollywood composer Christopher Young. Muye is studying with Professor Richard Danielpour and Peter Golub at UCLA.
Muye’s compositions are inspired by oriental elements and electronic sounds, blended with a diverse palette of musical styles. She believes in being sensitive to the colors within music, striving to transcend boundaries and balance visuals and music through both orchestral and electronic compositions. Drawing inspiration from both printable and western traditions, Muye aims to provide a fresh and immersive experience for audiences. Looking to perfect her technical abilities and develop her own unique style, Muye goes on to pursue her lifelong passion for music.
